Wednesday Happenings

30 07 2009

1.  I ran 6 miles this morning in extreme humidity.  Painful.

2.  Great day of study.  I am looking forward to my first message from the “I See…” Series.

3.  Looking at new stuff to introduce to Elevate.

4.  I believe God spoke to me about the power of my words.  Our words forge the trail to either good or bad.

5.  Tacos Y Salsa with great friends.

6.  I still have the green balloon from the message about God-Sized Dreams.  It reminds me of my potential through Christ.  God has put BIG dreams in my heart for Elevate Church.  I will not surrender those dreams.

Dialing in to the Holy Spirit

28 07 2009

From Matthew to Revelation, Jesus says over and over:  “Anyone who has ears should listen to the Spirit understand…”  Basically that means:

1.  I must dial in to the Holy Spirit through prayer.

2.  In order to hear the Holy Spirit, I can’t do all the talking.  I need to prayerfully listen.

3.  I need to recognize His voice and separate it from my own thoughts or other voices.

4.  I need to remove anything that might override His voice; i.e. anger, frustration, unforgiveness, sinfulness, ect

5.  I must seek to not only hear but understand what He is saying to me.

I am convinced that the Holy Spirit speaking.  But we must stop, listen, understand, and obey.

Sunday Reflect

27 07 2009

1.  Sunday was a great day to focus on the first purpose of Elevate Church – “Worship”.  Great job worship team.

2.  We had the one of the best times of prayer in the short history of Elevate Church.  We are definitely a “presence-driven” church.

3.  Shanda has a powerful testimony of physical healing.  Can’t wait until you hear it.  It is a modern day miracle.

4.  We had 10 first-time guests with us.  Outreaches in the park are incredible ways to build community relationships.

5.  Awesome staff meeting.  I challenged the collective staff to fast and pray with me this week for Elevate Church.  Some things will not happen unless we fast and pray.

6.  “We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. 4 We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. 5 We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. “  2 Cor. 10:3-5  A.K.A Prayer and Fasting

7.  I appreciate believers who are faithful to tithe to the Lord.  They understand that it is an act of obedience to God.  They also understand that it’s part of living under God’s divine favor.

8.  I’m excited to begin the new series:  “I See…”  This Sunday is the start.

Saturday Run Down

25 07 2009

1.  Today I chose to take a break from running.  It felt good.

2.  I am anticipating what God will do tomorrow at Elevate Church.

3.  I am hangin’ with my family part of today.  I have an awesome family.

4.  God Speaking to me about the new series:  “I See…”

5.  Worked on some “around the house” stuff.

6.  The staff is going to attend a Saturday night church to be refreshed and get some creative ideas.  Leaders need feeding and encouragement as well.

7.  I am thankful for a semi-relaxed Saturday.

Right attitudes that grow faith

24 07 2009

1.  I don’t know everything.  I need someone to teach me.

2.  I love everyone.  The world doesn’t revolve around me.

3.  I have not arrived.  I need God more and more in my life.

4.  I serve others.  When I give, then I receive.

5.  I follow God’s will.  I will choose His purpose over my own.

6.  I need my church family.  I was not created to be an island.

Four Reasons I Love Elevate

22 07 2009

1.  The greatest volunteers in the world go to Elevate.  I am constantly amazed at how hard people work to make things happen each week.

2.  The heart to serve.  Over the last several weeks, Elevate has served hundreds and hundreds of people at the Summer Concert Series and the Street Dance.  The heart to serve this community is evident.

3.  Incredible times of worship in church.  Last Sunday was an awesome day of worship.  Way to go worship team.

4.  The future of Elevate Church.  I believe the best is still yet to come.  We haven’t even scratched the surface of what God wants to do through us.

I am so proud to be the pastor of Elevate.
