Proud Dad

8 04 2009

Yesterday Lori and I put our 13 year old daughter on a bus to Mexico for her missions trip.  It was a mixed bag.  I think it was a hard for me to see my little girl grow up a little more.  Even harder to send her off where I can’t protect her.  But when she was a little girl, we dedicated her to God and asked God to use her for His glory.  I am watching that happen before my very eyes.  Somehow I knew this day would come when we would have to hold her a little more loose.  I am so proud of her heart for God and passion for missions.  She has courageous faith.  She raised every penny herself to go on this trip.  I am amazed, while many13 year old girls are thinking of boyfriends and make-up, she is thinking of an orphanage in Reyonsa, Mexico.  I am a proud dad.

I need some Kleenex – you have brought tears to my eyes with your written words about your father-daughter relationship. Jim and I are so proud of Lauren, especially that fact that she raised the money on her own. You have every right to be a proud father. Keep us informed of her trip and when she returns. And give a big hug to Audrey :) Nancy

Wow, this is so amazing, and beautiful at the same time. If she has the heart of you and Lori, we know she has a heart for people and missions! I feel proud to call you guys friends! I understand now, why some parents were so nervous about sending their kids off on a missions trip. I didn’t understand the “problem” before I had kids, but now, oh yeah. I laugh a little thinking about it now. I know my own may want to go some day, and I will have to let go, whew, it is hard even thinking of Izze going to pre-school next fall, but…. hope you guys are doing well. With love and prayers. The Rush’s!

PK,

Amenda and I have been going to your church for almost a year now. Wow!!! And in that short span, we’ve gotten to know your family quite well, and we’re honored to have such a great family as our pastoral family. Lauren is an incredible young girl and I agree, that I wish most teenagers were more concerned about people like she is. I’m glad we got to help “fund” the trip as our flowerbeds never looked better.

Amenda and I love you and your family so much and we thank you for the big hearts that the Brassfield family has!!!

God Bless.

George and Amenda Strippoli
